Root Canals

There are many reasons that a root canal may need to be performed (deep decay, cracked tooth, etc.). A small access is made into the pulp (nerve) of the tooth, and then a series of files is used to clean and shape the canals of the tooth. Once the canals have been properly cleaned and shaped a thermoplastic material is used to seal the canals. After a root canal, a crown and sometimes a post are placed on the tooth to protect it from fracturing in the future.
